Persepolis
is nonfiction graphic novel that based on author Marsan Satrapi’s life. This
Novel contain period of growth that related tragic history of Iran. According
to story Persepolis gives explanation that western country’s distorted view of
Iran and how they influenced country.
I
impressed from Volume 1 which when author was young, because it showed about
innocent girl’s view that shows reality of Iran. Of course this book never contain any
political message or harassment.
Vol1
story is showing religious problem between Islam law and worldly value, as alcohol and fashion. Also, interesting point is out fit
of god in young protagonist’s imagination, because Islam forbids having
specific figure of god to forbid symbolism. This moment reminds this novel’s
author is innocent young girl again.
Author
did not write this book to criticize Islam, she wanted people undertand Islam
and stop discrimination.
